This bibliographic study was conducted in order to deepen about canine ehrlichiosis, a disease caused by a microorganism called rickettsia that affects members of the canidae family, belonging to the gram-negative bacteria, is transmitted by the bite of an infected tick, when the vector ingests blood from the host, they are contaminated by salivary secretions, for its part the symptoms vary in different stages: acute, subclinical and chronic. A factor that favors the vector is the warm weather, the disease can occur in animals regardless of breed, age, and adults are the most susceptible, so you should manage a health control under a veterinarian, including a vaccination plan starting from their first weeks of life and periodically internal and external deworming, However, diagnostic tests must be performed, a treatment is presented to prevent, eliminate or control the vector in order to reduce the prevalence of the disease in animals that are carriers and prevent it from spreading, dissemination so that each owner can raise awareness because it is considered an emerging and zoonotic disease. In Ecuador, as in many countries, there are known cases of canine erhlichiosis but there are no bibliographic precedents, due to the percentage of dogs that wander in the street because they do not have a fixed home, they are kept in humid places or in constant heat in their daily lives, they stay in public places such as parks, gardens or schools and there is a link with veterinary and human public health.es_ES
