Amblyopia is a very common pathology in childhood, it is characterized by the loss of visual acuity in one or both eyes, this occurs as a consequence of a lack of maturation and development of the visual system during childhood. Signs and symptoms that may occur include: asthenopia, headaches, blurred vision, squinting, eye floating, and reading problems. Within refractive amblyopia we can find anisometropic amblyopia which presents a difference in refraction between both eyes. Early detection is extremely important since amblyopia treatment has a greater effect before visual maturation is complete. The present study aims to establish the origin of the decrease in visual acuity in the right eye of a 7-year-old male patient. For that, several optometric and ophthalmological exams were carried out, such as: Visual Acuity exam, both objective and subjective, Cover Test, Hirschberg test, Ophthalmoscopy, Bruckner Reflex, Ishihara Test, Kappa Angle and Ocular Dominance. With the results obtained, a myopic anisometropic refractive amblyopia could be diagnosed. Prior to this, the treatment began, which was based on optical correction working in conjunction with vision therapy with an eye patch, in addition to periodic follow-up for 6 months to review the progress of the treatment.es_ES
