The present study shows the case of a patient with high myopia of -8.00 diopters to whom a soft contact lens with spherical dioptric power was adapted, in order to improve its visual and optical quality, for this it is necessary to determine the adaptation parameters of the contact, such as the final dioptric power of the lens considering the distance to the vertex present in aerial lenses, the diameter and the base curve of the lens. Pre-adaptation tests were performed such as visual acuity, objective and subjective refraction, contrast sensitivity, biomicroscopy, direct ophthalmoscopy, Schirmer's test and tear breakup time (BUT), which allowed knowing the refractive status of the patient, ocular physiology, lacrimal system in terms of quantity and quality. The results showed that the patient is apt to be a contact lens user due to presenting an optimal tear film and keratometric values considered normal (43 D), for which the hydrogel contact lens will be prolonged with a refractive power of -7.25 diopters, diameter 14.0mm and base curve of 8.6. At the end of the adaptation and checking the visual acuity in relation to the frame lens improved from 20/630 to 20/32 and contrast sensitivity from 1.20 to 1.50, greater comfort was acquired when carrying out work activities, sharpness in peripheral vision and esthetic.es_ES
