dc.descriptionAsthma is one of the most common chronic diseases in the world, which has a significant impact on society and the health of children and adults. According to the Ministry of Public Health (MSP), it is believed that 125,000 people in Ecuador suffer from bronchial asthma, of which 70% are children and 30% are adults. The present case is based on a 10 year old female patient and after having carried out the assessment, the definitive diagnosis was bronchial asthma. It is concluded that the main triggers of bronchial asthma were cigarette smoke and environmental allergens. Currently there is no cure for bronchial asthma, but the crises in patients with the disease can be controlled. Treatment of these patients is based on the use of bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroids.es_ES

dc.description.abstractEl asma es una de las enfermedades crónicas más comunes en el mundo, que tiene un impacto significativo en la sociedad y la salud de niños y adultos. De acuerdo al Ministerio de Salud Pública (MSP), se cree que 125.000 personas en Ecuador padecen asma bronquial, de las cuales el 70% son niños y el 30% son adultos. El presente caso se basa en un paciente femenino de 10 años de edad y luego de haber realizado la valoración se llega al diagnóstico definitivo el cual fue de asma bronquial. Se concluye evidenciando que los principales desencadenantes del asma bronquial fueron el humo del cigarrillo y los alérgenos ambientales. Actualmente no existe una cura para el asma bronquial, pero las crisis en pacientes con la enfermedad se pueden controlar. El tratamiento de estos pacientes se basa en el uso de broncodilatadores y corticoides inhalados.es_ES
