Acute diarrheal diseases (ADD) are a major public health problem worldwide. All age groups are affected by this disease, however, those affected to a great extent are patients in the first years of life, so it is of the utmost importance to identify the causal agents and risk factors for the appearance of this pathology. . In the development of the investigative work, the objective "Determine the risk factors that influence the transmission of acute diarrheal diseases in older infants who attend the Basic Hospital of Baba" was set. The study was elaborated with the analytic-synthetic and hypothetical-deductive method, it was an observational study, an intentional non-probabilistic sampling was carried out, with 32 older infants as the research sample. Among the results, it was evidenced that the main etiological agent in EDA was the Escherichia coli bacteria, predominating in 69% of the infants. Even with the presence of representative symptoms of the disease, it was found that the mothers did not go to a health institution, concluding that the main risk factor that influences the transmission of acute diarrheal diseases in older infants is the consumption of contaminated water and general ignorance of the disease.es_ES
