Dirofilariasis or also called zoonotic heartworm, being man an accidental host, transmitted by mosquitoes that have absorbed blood infected with microfilariae, the objective of this document is a compilation of clinical cases of D. immitis disease in canines here Studies carried out in different cities of the country are described, specifically in Guayaquil and Quito, with different diagnostic methods such as the antigen detection kit for Dirofilaria inmitis CHW 2.0 from Bionote in 40 canines where the result of 100% of the animals was negative to the test, in another study the woo test was carried out with 131 samples where the results gave 3 positive cases, the SensPERT diagnostic kit designed to detect Dirofilaria antigen was used with 60 canine samples where a prevalence of 1 was determined, In 67% of cases, blood smears, ELISA tests using the IDEXX SNAP 4DX Kit were used. ated in a study where blood samples were taken from a chichico monkey giving positive for the pathology, a necropsy of the abdominal cavity was also performed where the presence of adult parasites was observed, variables were taken to consider such as age, race, place of residence, frequency of trips, and walks. These diagnostic methods are related to the patient's symptoms, and allow us to have a positive case for the disease provide timely action to use the appropriate treatments.es_ES
