Introduction: pterygium or better known as pterygium in the eyes is a problem that affects workers in the agricultural and productive area of the country. It appears with greater prevalence among those who work exposed to chemicals, excessive exposure to the sun and other irritating elements. Objective: To identify the relationship between the use of agricultural chemicals and the appearance of Pterygium among the staff of the packing area of the San Luis farm of the Panigón Campus of the province of Los Ríos - first semester of 2022. Methodology: through an analytical, descriptive, cross-sectional study, tests were carried out to diagnose the incidence of pterygium. The investigation was carried out with the staff of the packing area of the San Luis farm, the presence of pterygium was detected. It is a descriptive study because its objective was to identify the factors associated with this pathology. Results: a high prevalence of pterygium is detected with 70% of workers suffering from it. The company applies biosafety protocols, exposure to chemicals is one of the factors that predispose to its appearance. Visual checks are also not carried out. Therefore, the pterygium evolves without any control. Conclusions: exposure to chemical agents and sun exposure are causes of pterygium prevalence. Pterygium is found in a high percentage of workers in the agricultural area, which coincides with other similar studies. It is important that visual care practices are implemented, avoiding exposure to chemical factors.es_ES
