Respiratory failure is considered one of the clinical conditions with the highest incidence in premature newborns. Also known within the clinical framework as respiratory deficiency syndrome, it marks an important point within the main causes of morbidity and mortality in the hospital area. This problem is generated in the premature newborn, since the respiratory system is immature causing an alteration in gas exchange, as a result of which an insufficiency of oxygen requirements in the body is caused. Currently the incidence of this clinical condition has decreased compared to the last 3 decades, however, around 10% of premature infants presenting a clinical picture of respiratory failure are registered, since the risk goes hand in hand with the gestational age. Its pathogenesis is clear, the deficit of surfactant liquid, an agent that serves as a lubricant to reduce the surface tension of the alveoli, the absence of this generates an imbalance in the homeostasis of this system. Thus, this clinical case focuses on the development of a Nursing Care Process in a premature patient with Respiratory Failure. These activities contain methods that will allow meeting the objectives set to improve the clinical condition of the newborn.es_ES
