Community Acquired Pneumonia (CAP) can be considered as a disease of acute evolution, and is generally treated on an outpatient basis, in addition to representing an objective public health problem which has caused motivation in the main societies worldwide and thus have managed to consecutively publish guidelines to facilitate the detection of its diagnosis and its therapeutic management. The clinical conditions of the patient and the presence of risk factors indicate the evolution, risk of mortality and their therapeutic behavior. Here we present the case of a 63-year-old female patient who reported chest pain of great intensity, being continuous and also radiating to the dorsal region, presenting a productive cough throughout the day, accompanied by abundant expectoration. According to the INEC (National Institute of Statistics and Censuses) Ecuador throughout the year 2020 has reported 89,338 cases of pneumonia. So far in 2021, 15,132 cases have been reported, showing a decrease of 57.31% compared to the previous year. The annual incidence of CAP in adults ranges between 1.07 and 1.2 cases per 1,000 people per year, and in adults older than 65 years it increases to 12.7-15.3 cases per 1,000 people per year.es_ES
