Preterm deliveries are currently known to be one of the major risk factors for infant morbidity and mortality. Preterm deliveries are those that occur between 22 weeks and before 37 weeks, that is, 3 weeks before the estimated time of delivery at term. Preterm or preterm deliveries are divided into 4 levels according to the week of gestation in which they occur, the most common preterm deliveries being late preterm deliveries, which are those that take place between the 34th week and the 36th week.6 Although the exact cause of preterm or preterm births is not known, the exact cause is unknown. Although there is no known exact cause of preterm births, it has been identified that there are several factors that could cause preterm delivery such as a pregnant woman consuming licit and illicit drugs, smoking, health problems such as low weight, overweight or obesity during gestation, diseases such as diabetes and hypertension, continuous spontaneous or induced abortions, not considering the minimum time between one pregnancy and the next, among others. It is also known that preterm birth has consequences in the mother and fetus as well as in the development of the child, among the most common problems are cardiac, respiratory, audio visual and complications in learning itself, affecting its total development.es_ES
