Banana (Musa sapientum) represents the fourth most important food index crop in the world, followed by rice, wheat and corn. It is important to consider that banana production can be affected by various factors, including agricultural pests. The black boll weevil (C. sordidus) is an insect pest considered one of the most damaging of all established musaceae, in which production losses of 42-45% of the total harvest have been reported. In established banana plantations, the insect pest produces tunnels inside the outer edge of the corm, causing rotting of the corm, yellowing of the leaves, energy loss, plant drop and sometimes sterility. The entomopathogenic fungus (B. bassiana) has been used effectively in the field and laboratory to control C. sordidus, reaching an efficacy of 97%, making it a valid alternative for the management of the black palm weevil. The information obtained was carried out through the technique of analysis, synthesis and summary, with the purpose that the reader knows about Beauveria bassiana for the control of (Cosmopolites sordidus) in the banana crop in the province of Los Ríos. Based on the above, it was determined that applications of (B. bassiana) on the black weevil achieved a 97.5% mortality rate 21 days after inoculation of the insects, with a concentration of 4x109 conidia/ml. The use of the entomopathogenic fungus (B. bassiana) can be considered as an efficient alternative for the control of the black boll weevil in banana plantations.es_ES
