| dc.description | Banana is one of the most important crops in Ecuador, showing hundreds of jobs and also income to the country. The presence or attack of a pest could produce poor quality and low crop yield. Lesion nematodes such as pratylenchus coffeae are considered economically important pests for banana and are one of the main pests in banana cultivation, pratylenchus coffeae lead to complete degradation, leading to poor crop yield, but also its quality decreasing. The nematode pratylenchus coffeae directly attacks the rice of the banana plant causing great losses in production. Among the effects caused by this nematode, this is the weakening of the plant and the difficulty in absorbing nutrients or irrigation makes the plant not work properly. Methods used to reduce the density of P. coffeae in plant material include removal of roots and rhizomes from the surface, and removal of damaged tissue. Exposing the cuttings to direct sunlight can reduce the amount of residual nematodes and pre-sterilized by soaking in a chemical treatment for 15 minutes. | es_ES |

| dc.description.abstract | El banano es uno de los cultivos más importantes del ecuador, generando cientos de empleos y así mismos ingresos al país. La presencia o ataque de una plaga podría producir mala calidad y bajo rendimiento del cultivo. Los nematodos lesionadores como el pratylenchus coffeae se consideran plagas económicamente importantes para el banano y son unas de las principales plagas en el cultivo de banano, pratylenchus coffeae conducen a una degradación completa, lo que lleva a un mal rendimiento de la cosecha, pero también su calidad disminuye. El nematodo pratylenchus coffeae ataca directamente a las rices de la planta de banano provocando grandes pérdidas en la producción. Entre los efectos causados por este nematodo, este es el debilitamiento de la planta y la dificultad para absorber los nutrientes o el riego hace que la planta no funcione correctamente. Los métodos utilizados para reducir la densidad de pratylenchus coffeae en el material vegetal incluyen la remoción de raíces y rizomas de la superficie, y la remoción de tejido dañado. Exponer los esquejes a la luz solar directa puede reducir la cantidad de nematodos residuales y preesterilizado sumergiéndolo en un tratamiento químico 15 minutos. | es_ES |
