The present clinical case corresponds to a 33-year-old patient with 26.4 weeks of gestation, diagnosed with renal insufficiency; a condition that produces dysfunction of the main filtering organs of waste products of the body, the kidneys. During the gestational period, this organ is committed to anatomical and physiological changes, which help to differentiate the pathophysiological alterations that may occur during gestation. Additionally, the pregnant woman showed signs of anemia that were confirmed by laboratory tests, showing a significant reduction of erythrocytes in the blood. Anemia is a pathology that frequently occurs in pregnancy and is one of the most serious public health problems worldwide; both pathologies are dangerous for the health of the mother-child binomial and increase the risk of maternal and fetal mortality. The patient went by her own means to the obstetric emergency area of the Martín Icaza General Hospital, reporting bilateral lumbar pain, oliguria of two days' evolution, with pale and painful facies. In the initial assessment of vital signs, she was stable with a score of 0 breast score. Diagnostic studies were performed to start medical treatment and nursing interventions to meet her needs, in order to achieve the wellbeing of mother and child. The patient was admitted to the hospital unit and was later referred to the nephrology specialty at the University Hospital in the Guayaquil city for further control of her pathology.es_ES
