dc.description.abstractLa diabetes es una enfermedad que afecta a varios sistema del cuerpo humano, uno de los más afectados es lo relacionado a la vista. Cuando no se recibe tratamiento adecuado puede ser causa de consecuencias como catarata, mala visión, inclusive la perdida de visión total. En el presente estudio acude a consulta una paciente de sexo femenino de 50 años de edad, la cual fue diagnosticada previamente con enfermedad cardiovascular la cual ha incidido en la degeneración macular, presentando un cuadro de retinopatía diabética más edema macular. Manifiesta que su visión ha disminuido considerablemente durante los últimos 3 años. Los pacientes diabéticos pueden sufrir varias patologías que afectan su salud general, la pérdida de visión es una de sus consecuencias, llegando inclusive a perder totalmente la visión. La retinopatía diabética es la segunda causa de ceguera en el mundo. Estudios indican que el 75% de diabéticos la manifiestan a partir de los 5 años.es_ES
